Forced Perspective
In this assignment I was suppose to create a forced perspective photo. Forced perspective a technique that create an optical illusion to make an object appear farther away, closer, larger, or smaller than what it actually is. It manipulates human visual perception through the use of scaled objects and the correlation between them and the vantage point of the spectator or camera.

Above are my attempts at creating a forced perspective photo with some of my Legos. When I was doing this assignment I had a hard time with setting up the camera and the object so it would look like I wasn't far back. I also had a hard time with where to do it because I did not like that you can see my foot prints in the snow in my picture with Statue of Liberty. To help me take the photo and make sure I was in a good spot I used my apple watch. On the watch I would see what the camera saw and I could take the picture with my watch. These two photos show interest in my Legos and how I had fun with doing the assignment because I went out in the snow and I'm using toys.
If I went back and redid this assignment I would get help from one of my family members to take the photo. For the first photo I was on a hill, so I would probably retake the photo on a flatter ground. I would do that because I think I look way too tall to be look at the Statue of Liberty. For the second photo I would get better lighting and I would wear lighter clothes. I would wear lighter clothes because it is a little hard to see that I am there with dark clothes on and a dark background.

Personal Hero
My idea is surrounded by J.Cole, the album "Revenge of The Dreamers lll", and Martin Luther King. J.Cole is a rapper, singer, song writer, and record producer who produced "Revenge of The Dreamers lll" , and he likes to add lines about MLK when he is rapping/ singing. I will be making a news article about J. Cole and the album, but have the main picture be a collage of the things involving my 3 ideas. I will be making the collage by cutting out pictures of J. Cole and MLK, and then I will have a collage of words in the background. I will be working with paper and maybe draw of paint a little bit on the paper that I am using for the newspaper part.

Personal Hero Final
I think I faced a few challenges through out the process of making my project. A challenge I had was feeling confident with my work and being able to work on it in front of people. Another challenge I had was where to even start, but Mrs. McClay helped me out by suggesting different ideas to do and showing me things that could point me into a good direction. To work through the challenges I just brought in my project and had Mrs. McClay help me. The work I did Expressed my own personal interests because it shows how I liked J. Cole, his album and how he got the album made by adding a bit of text to the side of the main picture.
I can learn and interact with other artist by asking them to critic my work and just ask for suggestions. When Mrs. McClay was helping me pick a background color she asked my classmates what color they thought would coordinate well with the other colors I had. I can learn the processes of an art form but just simply trying it out and seeing how to use it as I go. I did this with the matte medium. Mrs. McClay showed me how to use it and I learned how to spread it onto my work. If I could re-do the project I would maybe do something 3D instead of having it so flat, but I did add a bit of texture that made me like what I did a little more.

3D Model of My House
For my first independent project for creative connection I decided that I would like to make a 3D model of my house. I got this idea from Adam Savage's YouTube video of a one day build where he built his childhood home.
My first challenge I came across when making the model was not getting straight cuts and having a dawl blade on my exacto knife. With that being said I go new tips for the exacto knife, and if the exacto knife is dawl then the cuts aren't as easy to cut and they go go the whole way through the foam core. To make the cuts straight I used a ruler and just stayed steady and took my time. The work I did expresses my interest in architecture and how I like to make art that is 3D.
I can develop focus on my project by putting in earbuds and just focusing on my project and getting it done. I also focus on it by keeping to myself and not talking. The final way I find myself staying focused on my projects is by not getting on my phone too much and only using it when I needed reference of my house. I can look closely to find new thing by just looking at my project and see what looks plain and I can tell something is missing and what can I put to fill in the area. I did that by looking at the house and seeing that instead on cutting a hole for the door I could make the doors usable. I did that by making certain cuts that could let the door fold so I could open and shut them. Another way I looked closely at my project and new I could find something new to add is when I looked at the open area for the windows. Them I thought I could get a clear film to cut into the opening so the window would look like it had glass, which made it look a lot more like a window.
I am very happy with the out come of my project. If I were to do it again, I would start with the first floor, gotten a better ruler to make straighter cuts, and I think I would have add shutters to my windows. One thing I would have liked to do but would not have know would be adding a roof. I think it would be hard though, because of all the angles and concave areas a roof has.

Upcycle H20-Y20
I came across at least 2 challenges during my project. The first challenge was running out of black spray paint, so I used chalk board paint and painted it on the caps. My second challenge was not having enough of the same type of caps. To get past the challenge I used different types of caps for each of the words. I think my project shows awareness of environmental issues involving watershed because it's a sign that says 'STOP WATER POLLUTION". Not only does it say that but I made it with recycled caps of all types and I used an old poster board to place the caps on.
I believe the materials and tools I used were chosen intentionally and applied with care. I think this because before I even started the project I measure out the caps. Then did some math on how many caps each letter would need. With all that being said I could then figure out about how big I needed my poster board to be so all the letters fit nicely. I took a risk by applying all the caps the day the project was due, and not knowing what caps I would be using because I ran out of the caps I needed. I now have learned that when I have a due date I should not procrastinate as much as I did.
One thing I would do differently is start getting my supplies earlier than what I did. Get the materials and make sure I have what I need a day before starting. Not a day before it's due or the day of that it is due.

3D Model of Bedroom
I found this project to be a little easier and I had less challenges. I think that is because I"ve already made a 3D model so it was a little easier. A challenge I had was whether or not I wanted to add a loft to the bedroom. This was a challenge because I did not know how it would come out, and I did not know if I had enough time to do it. To get over that challenge I just went for it and took some time to actually try it out. If I were to do it again, I would have taken more time at the beginning and designing the bedroom on Sketch Up.
The question I'm going to answer is "How can I look closely to find new things." Before I did this project I did a 3D model of my houses whole first floor. DO I wanted to stay in the 3D realm but I decided that I am going to upscale it and make it one room. The scale was 1/4" = 1' and I changed it to 1" = 1". Another question is "How can I develop focus on my work." I found this project to be my favorite one I've done so far. I really started to focus on it after I made the first piece o furniture for the room. I started focusing then because I was proud in what I did so I was eager to finished it to the idea I had in my head.
